For our first sweater and hoodie line, it was important to us to create something special! We agreed as a team: the front lettering had to be embroidered and not printed! Lukas also came up with something new for the back print: By using a two-sided printing process, we were able to implement a two-color design for the first time in this design.
At first glance, the design may seem random. But this is not the case: there is a political idea behind it. As our core team is based in Rostock and Kiel, we wanted to draw motifs based on these cities. The sunflower motif is dedicated to Rostock. It is a reminder of the xenophobic riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagenon August 22-26, 1992, when an asylum seekers’ home (the Sunflower House) was set on fire out of xenophobia. 30 years later, our fire is only ignited by adrenaline and water. We are jointly responsible for ensuring that it stays that way in the future. That’s what’s behind it. Or you can just think of it as a Savage sunflower. Your choice.
