Cold Origins:
The name “Cold Origins“ was created back in 2019 during a Kitesurf road trip to Denmark. We were in desperate need of wind and therefore had plenty of time to visualize new ideas for a Kite- and Boardcrew. We came up with the name on a rainy, cold day during summer stuck in a closed school because we had no electricity in a small Danish town.
It was a day truly reminding us of our origin: Northern Europe. And we noticed right away: This name just fits perfectly to our natural playground: Cold, gray, rainy, extreme conditions at the Baltic coast of Northern Germany. For some out there this might sound repulsive. But we adore it. This cold ignites our fire. This is our playground; we don’t need more. Come to Rostock or Kiel, and we will show the key for our universe.
Sjard
Sjard studies together with Nils in Rostock. They became friends after randomly moving together into a very sandy apartment full of kites and wetsuits. Tough times. But this is history for now: They moved on now living together with their girlfriends. Sjard together with Lukas focusses on the creative part of Cold Origins: sketching new designs and thinking of future perspectives of Cold Origins. He also manages the Cold Origins Spotify account. If he is not stuck in hospital or drawing designs at home, he usually can be found on his wakestyle board in boots and doing Kitesurf Freestyle. 25 knt plus don´t really seem to bother him. Lukas will never understand that.

Hello,
Originally, I come from Munich, but after I learned how to kitesurf, it became clear to me that I wanted to live on the coast.
Now I have been living in Kiel for a few years already and have become a happy “Nordlicht” (a term for people from northern Germany).
This year, I taught myself screen printing and am currently busy printing our first collection.
Nils
By moving to Rostock for study reasons, Nils joined the kiteboarding game. Boardriding has always been in his veins. Having Sjard as a flatmate only made it worse… Searching for good forecasts and driving to spots for traces of wind is daily business. With Sjard being on a study away in lissabon, Nils is holding position in Rostock. Boardriding is first priority and more sessions are coming in.
